If using store bought hummus, you can make it look a bit more fancy by transferring it into bowls, smoothing it out and then adding a drizzle of oil and some seasoning and herbs.
Texture matters with a hummus platter. Balance crunchy (crackers, carrots) with soft (bread, cucumber).
Warm the bread slightly before serving, as it's nice to have some warm things on it as the veggies and dip are cold.
Don’t overcrowd the hummus platter. Leave a little room so the platter looks intentional, not messy and chaotic - unless that is your style of course.
Label flavours of hummus if serving guests - this is especially helpful at parties.
Use different size bowls and pots to build height.
Make sure you have a board big enough for the amount of people that you will be serving. I like a board or tray with edges so everything doesn't roll off.
