This hummus platter proves that simple ingredients, when presented well (or even just thrown on to a board), can feel a bit special. The best part? This platter features three different hummus flavors, so there's something for everyone - classic, bold, and slightly indulgent. And it's no cook too.
We had a little Christmas party with friends and their kids (think festive arts and crafts and too much sugar) and I made this as one of my friends is vegan. I always make sure every guest is catered for and not just an after thought.
This hummus platter was the main food that I served, and it meant that it was suitable for everyone.
This hummus platter is perfect for parties, family gatherings, or even a fun weekend lunch and a great way to get kids to try some new things. It takes less than 15 minutes to put together and it's so easy to customise too. It's basically a giant Picky Plate.

Ingredients and Substitutions

A full ingredients list, along with US Customary and Metric measurements, can be found in the recipe card at the end of this post.
- Hummus - You are going to need 3 different types of hummus for this hummus platter. We went with plain (our Butterbean Hummus recipe) and then a roasted red pepper hummus and caramelised onion hummus. But, any will work.
- Crackers and breadsticks - A good mix of size, flavour and texture. If you want to make your own, then try our Easy Homemade Crackers.
- Veggies - A mixture of carrot, cucumber, celery, mangetout, peppers and radish.
- Bread - Scoop all that delicious hummus up with some crusty bread and some pitta strips too.
Variations
Hummus - The hummus is the star of this platter, and there are so many different flavour options. Beetroot hummus, Edamame Hummus or Carrot Hummus would add a lot of colour, but you could add a harissa hummus for something spicy, or an avocado hummus for extra healthy fats.
For a high protein hummus, try our Cottage Cheese Hummus.
Why not add a chocolate hummus for a sweet option and add some fruit to dip into it?
Extras - If you want to take your homemade hummus platter to the next level, then some extra garnishes really make it look beautiful.
Think olives, pickles, fresh herbs, pomegranate, nuts and seeds and maybe little bowls of olive oil and balsamic vinegar.
How to Assemble the Hummus Platter
- Choose your board
A large wooden board, serving tray, or shallow platter works best. - Place the hummus on first
Spoon each hummus into its own bowl or create wells directly on the board using the back of a spoon. - Add garnishes
Drizzle olive oil over each hummus and sprinkle with toppings to visually distinguish the flavors. - Build around it
Arrange crackers, bread, and veggie sticks around the hummus in loose sections. Keep colours mixed for visual impact. - Finish with extras
Add small bowls of olives, pickles, or nuts if desired.

Hummus Platter Storage
Hummus: Store in airtight containers in the fridge for up to 4-5 days.
Veggies: Prep ahead and keep in a sealed container with a paper towel to absorb moisture.
Bread and crackers: Store at room temperature and refresh briefly in the oven if needed.
If you want to make this hummus platter ahead of time, keep everything separate and build the platter just before serving for best freshness.
Dannii's Top Tips
- If using store bought hummus, you can make it look a bit more fancy by transferring it into bowls, smoothing it out and then adding a drizzle of oil and some seasoning and herbs.
- Texture matters with a hummus platter. Balance crunchy (crackers, carrots) with soft (bread, cucumber).
- Warm the bread slightly before serving, as it's nice to have some warm things on it as the veggies and dip are cold.
- Don't overcrowd the hummus platter. Leave a little room so the platter looks intentional, not messy and chaotic - unless that is your style of course.
- Label flavours of hummus if serving guests - this is especially helpful at parties.
- Use different size bowls and pots to build height.
- Make sure you have a board big enough for the amount of people that you will be serving. I like a board or tray with edges so everything doesn't roll off.
