Jacket Potato with Beans and Cheese Ingredients

A full ingredients list, along with US Customary and Metric measurements, can be found in the recipe card at the end of this post.
- Potatoes - You need big floury potatoes, like Maris Pipers. You need olive oil and salt and pepper to rub on them to get the best crispy potatoes too.
- Butter - A salted butter to mash into the potatoes to make sure they are not dry.
- Cheese - Use a mature cheddar - as strong as you can handle. You could mix some mozzarella into it as well if you like.
- Baked Beans - We have used our Slow Cooker Baked Beans. They are SO easy to make and the flavour is insanely good. You can use canned baked beans if you prefer.
Jacket Potato with Cheese and Beans Variations
Meat - If you want to take those homemade baked beans to the next level, make some Air Fryer Bacon and chop it up really fine and mix it into the beans. You can also add leftovers of our Slow Cooker Pulled Pork or Slow Cooker Beef Brisket under the bean layer.
Spice - You can either mix some chopped pickled jalapeños in with the cheddar, or add some hot sauce to the beans.
Slow cooker/Air Fryer - We have baked these potatoes in the oven, but you should also check out our Air Fryer Jacket Potatoes and Slow Cooker Jacket Potatoes. You can make Microwave Jacket Potatoes too. Oven and air fryer get the crispiest results though.
Extra cheesy - Instead of butter, you could mash some cream cheese into the cut potato to make it extra cheesy. You can also use a mixture of cheddar and mozzarella.
How To Make Jacket Potato with Beans and Cheese
Prep: Preheat your oven to 220°C/200°C(fan)/425°F/Gas 7.

- Step 1: Rub the oil all over the potatoes and add the salt and pepper.

- Step 2: Cook at the top of your oven for 25 minutes. Turn the heat down to 190°C/170°C(fan)/375°F/Gas 5 and continue cooking for 1 hour.

- Step 3: To open up the jacket potato, wait for it to cool a little so you can handle it and then put a cross in the top and use your fingers to open it up.

- Step 4: Use a fork to rough up the potato and then add the butter and mash it in. Add half of the cheese on top of the jacket potatoes. This is so it melts.

- Step 5: Top with the baked beans. Then top with the rest of the cheese. You can never have too much cheese.
Dannii's Top Tips
- Make sure you really mash the butter into the cooked potato rather than just putting it on top. It will allow all that butter to really melt into every bit of the potato. Mash some grated cheddar in too.
- Instead of butter, why not use hummus for extra protein fibre?
- Add a lot of extra flavour to the beans by melting some marmite into them.
- Finish it off with some colour by sprinkling some chopped chives and spring onions (green onions/scallions) on top.
