Almond milk and oat milk get all the attention when it comes to vegan milk alternatives, but what about banana milk? Never heard of it? You are missing out! Simply blend up bananas and milk (with a little sweetener if you like) and you have yourself a dairy free milk that kids will LOVE, and there is no need to strain it like other homemade vegan milks.

How to make banana milk - Step by step
Simply place everything in a blender and blend until smooth.
What other flavours to add
We added a little vanilla and cinnamon to ours, although you don't have to. If you are using really rip bananas, then it will have a strong banana flavour. However, the vanilla and cinnamon will really compliment it.
If you want your milk sweeter, then a splash of maple syrup or honey will do that. Remember than honey won't make it vegan any more though.
How to store it
This milk will separate fairly quickly after making it, so it's best to make it right before you want to use it. But luckily it only takes a couple of minutes to make, so just make sure to only make as much as you need so there are no leftover.
FAQs
If your kids love Nesquik banana milk shake, then this is a much healthier version. No added sugar (unless you want to) and no chemicals or additives. It's lower in calories and fat and easy to adapt.
Not only are bananas filling, but they are full of potassium and electrolytes. We love using this milk on cereal, as it adds a nice extra sweetness to it. This isn't like a banana smoothie, it is much thinner (due to using water instead of milk).
Well, banana would be the obvious answer here, but it isn't overly bananary. The more ripe a banana you use, the stronger the flavour will be.
Yes, banana milk is a delicious vegan alternative to milk, as it is made with just banana and milk (and a few optional extras).
Yes, kids love banana milk. They feel like they have having a milkshake, but it's actually much healthier. We also serve it on a hot day when we are trying to increase their water intake and they are bored of plain water.
Pour this mixture in to your favourite lolly moulds and then pop in the freezer for a few hours. It's a great healthy summer treat.
Extra tips
• If your bananas are not very ripe, then a little honey or maple syrup will help to sweeten it. If you use really ripe bananas, then you shouldn't need to add any extra sweetener to it.
• If you want really cold milk, then you can use slices of frozen banana. make sure you use a high powered blender, as it will be harder to blend them when they are frozen. You could always add a couple of ice cubes to make it cold too.
• We used cinnamon to add a little extra flavour, however you could swap it for ginger or nutmeg.
