Ingredients and Substitutions

A full ingredients list, along with US Customary and Metric measurements, can be found in the recipe card at the end of this post.
- Gingerbread cake - This Healthy Gingerbread Cake might be the best thing we have made this Christmas and it goes so well on this Christmas Movie Snack Platter.
- Gingerbread truffles - These 3 ingredient Gingerbread Truffles are SO good and they make great gifts too.
- Nuts - At this time of year you can get some great nut selections in the supermarkets. It's a good opportunity to try something new.
- Crackers - These little Christmas tree crackers are super cute, but any crackers will work.
- Fruit - A mix of apple slices, strawberries, raspberries and blueberries.
- Gingerbread energy balls - It's nice to have something a little more nutritious on the Christmas movie snack board, and these Gingerbread Energy Balls are packed with dates, nuts and seeds.
- Merry Mix - Our Homemade Merry Mix is the perfect sweet festive mix.
- Brie Reindeers - Triangles of brie, pretzels for antlers, edible eyes and a red nose.
- Christmas chocolate shapes - I just added sprinkles into Christmas chocolate moulds and then poured in melted chocolate and put in the fridge to set and then popped them out.
- Dates - Medjool dates are the best and have a real caramel flavour to them. You could use other dried fruit like cherries or raisins too.
- Pickles - These might seem a bit random, as mostly everything else here is sweet, but it was nice to balance it out. These "Spanish pickles" from the Unearthed brand are a really good mix.
Variations
The great thing about a Christmas movie snack platter is that there are SO many different things you can add to it. You could have a different one every day! Here are some more things that work well on it.
Sweet Treats
- Mini gingerbread men or gingerbread stars
- Chocolate coins or wrapped festive chocolates
- Mini marshmallows
- Candy canes (whole or broken into pieces)
- Christmas biscuits or shortbread
- Chocolate-covered pretzels
Savoury Snacks
- Mini cheese cubes (cheddar, gouda, or mozzarella)
- Mini breadsticks
- Popcorn (salted, sweet, or cinnamon sugar). Why not try our Christmas Popcorn?
- Mini sausage rolls or pigs in blankets (optional, warmed). Or our Christmas Sausage Rolls.
Festive Extras
- Small bowls of dips (chocolate spread, caramel, or hummus)
- Sprinkles or edible glitter for popcorn
- Rosemary sprigs for decoration

Christmas Move Snack Board Storage
Try to only make a platter as big as you need, because with everything served together, it's hard to store after and everything has to be separated.
Berries can be put in an airtight container and go back in the fridge. Apple will start browning fairly quickly. You can squeeze lemon juice on it which will help.
The nuts and merry mix can go back in an airtight container and any leftover cake or truffles can go back in the fridge.
Dannii's Top Tips
- Use what you already have. This board is a great way to use up lots of different things.
- When it comes to assembling a Christmas movie snack board, start with the larger items first and then build everything else around them.
- Nuts and dried fruit or anything really small are good for filling in all the little gaps.
- You can use any kind of board, just make sure it is big enough for what you need.
- Don't add anything too messy, as this is probably going to be eaten on the sofa, so anything too runny just won't work.
