Garlic and pizza lovers rejoice, as we have quite possibly the most garlicky pizza you will ever eat. This Garlic Mushroom Pizza recipe is so easy to make and comes with a serious garlicky punch.
Boy does this have a lot of garlic in it! I mean, I know that it has garlic in the title of it, so you would expect a fair amount of garlic. But then expect a lot more on top of that! This is not a meal for a first date, but it is one for garlic lovers.

Why you will love it
- Ready in 20 minutes
- Great way to use up mushrooms
- Perfect for garlic lovers
- Cheaper and quicker than takeout pizza
Step by step
One: Slice the mushrooms fairly thinly.
Two: Mix together the oil and half of the garlic.
Three: Roll out the pizza dough.
Four: Add some spray oil to a frying pan and add the mushrooms and the rest of the garlic. Gently heat for 3-4 minutes until softened.
Five: Put the garlic mushrooms on top of the pizza and add the torn basil and Parmesan. Add some cracked black pepper and a pinch of sea salt and put in a preheated oven at 200°C/400°F/Gas 6 for 15-20 minutes until the dough has risen and is cooked through.
How garlicky is it?
Very! You could tone down the garlic levels of this, but where is the fun in that? Garlic is quite possibly one of the best flavours there is and I fall firmly in the camp of you can never have too much.
Garlic and mushrooms are one of those classic matches and when they are put on a pizza - it's close to perfection.
No pizza sauce?
This isn't like your traditional pizza - as you may have noticed from the photos that there is no marinara. *shocked face*. We love a slow cooker marinara as much as the next person, but this pizza is really all about the garlic, so no tomato based sauce needed.
Instead, the dough is smothered in a garlic oil mixture to keep it moist and add some extra garlic flavour, obviously.
A punchy garlic sauce with tons of garlicky mushrooms - what more can a garlic and pizza lover want?! Maybe some mints to eat before you speak to anyone after eating this!
Then on top of that it is loaded with garlic mushrooms and shavings of Parmesan are scattered on before it goes in the oven. You could add a sprinkle of garlic granules on top, but that is probably too much garlic, even for me!
Pizza base
Making your own pizza dough is easier that you might think. Is it quick? No. But it isn't complicated and the effort is worth it for deliciously crispy homemade dough.
If you want a quicker Garlic Mushroom Pizza option, then you can make these on a flatbread or pitta. You could even make it on a tortilla for a lower calorie version, but the mushrooms are fairly heavy so it might not hold it together very well.
What to serve it with
Pizza and fries is the perfect combo isn't it? Why not try our Best Air Fryer Fries or Garlic Polenta Fries. Want something a little lighters? These Baked Carrot Fries are delicious.
FAQs
The only non-vegan part of this pizza is the cheese. Simply swap that out for one of the many great vegan cheeses available and you have yourself a vegan mushroom pizza!
You can store slices of pizza in the fridge for 2-3 days. Stack slices on top of each other and put baking paper in between each one. Then you can wrap the stack in plastic wrap and and put in the fridge.
To freeze, wrap the slices individually in plastic wrap and keep in the freezer for up to three months.
Make sure the pizza is fully defrosted before reheating. You can reheat in a microwave, but you will end up with limp, soggy pizza! For best results follow these steps: Preheat your oven to 180°C/350°F/Gas 4. Place a slice of pizza on some foil on a baking tray and spray with a little cold water. Cover the pizza loosely with more foil and bake for 15-20 minutes. This will result in a perfectly heated pizza with a crispy crust.

Oh you have me craving pizza now. I love garlic, but I might have to tone this down a little bit for my boyfriend. Definitely going to try it at the weekend though.

Now you are talking!!! The combination of garlic and cheese will always be one of my favourites. I am not a massive marinara fan anyway, so just using garlic oil is a brilliant idea.
This looks so fresh and tasty, and both of my children would love it too!
