Ingredients and Substitutions
A full ingredients list, along with US Customary and Metric measurements, can be found in the recipe card at the end of this post.
- Salmon - We used 4 salmon fillets. You could do a side of salmon instead, but this would change the cooking time.
- Yogurt - Traditionally, bang band salmon would be made with mayonnaise, but we try to make lighter swaps where we can, so we used 0% Greek yogurt. This also adds some extra protein.
- Sriracha - We only used a little bit of this, but you could definitely add more for a kick of heat.
- Maple Syrup - This adds a lovely sweetness. You could swap it for honey if you prefer.
- Lemon juice - This adds acidity. You could add some lemon zest too, if you wanted extra lemon flavour.
- Sweet chilli sauce - This adds an extra kick of heat and sweetness.
Variations
Grill/Air Fryer - Instead of baking, grill the salmon over medium-high heat for 5-7 minutes on each side, or until the salmon is cooked through. Did you know that you can also make bang bang salmon in the air fryer? It will take about 10 minutes at 190°C.
Bang Bang Salmon Tacos - Flake the cooked salmon and serve it in soft tortillas with shredded cabbage, sliced avocado, and a drizzle of Bang Bang sauce.
Bang Bang Salmon Bowl - Serve the salmon over a bed of rice or quinoa, or our Brown Rice and Quinoa Blend, with steamed vegetables, avocado slices, and a generous helping of Bang Bang sauce.

Serving Suggestions
This recipe will make double the amount of bang band sauce you need. Half is to go on the salmon, and half is to serve alongside it, as you definitely need extra of this sauce for dipping.
Make sure you separate half the sauce before spreading on the salmon, so you aren't brushing the raw salmon and then dipping into the remaining sauce.
Pair your Bang Bang Salmon with a fresh green salad, roasted vegetables, or garlic mashed potatoes for a well-rounded meal. For a lighter option, serve with a side of steamed broccoli or asparagus.

Frequently Asked Questions
The Bang Bang sauce can be stored separately in the refrigerator for up to a week. Store any leftover salmon in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. You can either reheat it in the air fryer, or just flake it up and serve cold on a salad.
Absolutely! This bang bang sauce pairs well with other types of fish like cod, tilapia, or halibut. Adjust cooking times accordingly based on the thickness of the fillets.
Salmon should be cooked to an internal temperature of 63°C/145°F. The best way to test the internal temperature is with a meat thermometer. If you don't have a thermometer, you can cut gently into the thickest part of the fish and check the colour. If it has turned from the raw red/orange colour to pink and if the meat starts to flake, then it is done.
