This Birthday Cake Ninja Creami is a high protein ice cream that is also a great way to use leftover birthday cake. Just 3 ingredient are needed - milk, Greek yogurt and leftover chocolate birthday cake and you have an incredibly creamy birthday cake protein ice cream.

We hate food waste, so we are always looking for creative ways to use things up so nothing goes to waste. recently, we hosted a birthday party for 30 kids, and we overestimated the size of the cake needed!
We are all a little bored of leftover cake now, so I thought - why not make birthday cake creami?!
This Ninja Creami birthday cake ice cream just works so well. All you need is Greek yogurt and milk for the base, and then the chocolate cake crumbled in. The cake adds all the flavor and the frosting add a little fat to add to the creaminess.

Ingredients and Substitutions

A full ingredients list, along with US Customary and Metric measurements, can be found in the recipe card at the end of this post.
- Yogurt - We have used fat free Greek yogurt, but you can use full fat to get creamier results.
- Milk - We used skim milk, but any milk will work here. A higher fat milk will give creamier results too.
- Birthday cake - We used leftover chocolate orange birthday cake, with chocolate orange frosting. I think that having some buttercream frosting on it is key for adding some fat to it, as you get a creamier ice cream.
Variations
Birthday cake - Any cake will work here and it's a good way to change the flavors up. We used a chocolate cake, but you could use a vanilla cake. The cake used will change up the nutritional information.
Cottage cheese - To make these even higher in protein, you can swap some of the Greek yogurt for cottage cheese. You will need to blend it first.
Protein powder - For a protein boost, add a couple of tablespoons of protein powder.
Mix-ins - We usually just have this as it is, as the birthday cake adds lots of texture. But, you can't go wrong with chocolate chips. You could mix in some crushed nuts or Oreos too.
How To Make Birthday Cake Ninja Creami - Step by Step

- Step 1: Add the yogurt, milk and crumbled cake to the Ninja Creami pint container.

- Step 2: Give everything a good mix. It is fine if the cake is still a bit lumpy.

- Step 3: Put the lid onto the pint container and freeze for 24 hours.

- Step 4: Remove the lid and put the frozen pint tub into the outer bowl and put on the outer bowl lid. Put into the Ninja Creami machine and set to the frozen Yogurt setting and spin. After the first spin it may result in a crumbly consistency.

- Step 5: Replace the tub in the machine and press Re-spin. This may take 1-2 more re-spins to achieve the perfect creamy consistency.
Serving Suggestions
Much like regular ice cream - there are so many options when it comes to toppings. Think about when you go into an ice cream shop, and all the different toppings that you can choose from. The same goes for this!
We kept it simple with just some sprinkles (in true birthday cake fashion). But, why not try our Homemade Chocolate Sauce too?
You could also make some of our Homemade Healthy Nutella and drizzle that over it to make it extra chocolatey. Some of our low sugar granola on top adds a nice crunch too.
Our kids love adding sprinkles onto it and marshmallows too. Whilst we have just scooped this birthday cake ice cream recipe into a bowl, you can put it in a waffle cone to make it feel more like a treat.

Tips For Making The BEST Ninja Creami Birthday Cake Ice Cream
- If you wanted to make this a little extra creamy, without using full fat cottage cheese, yogurt and milk, then just add a couple of tablespoons of heavy cream (double cream) to the mixture.
- This is a fairly runny ice cream, as we didn't want to add anything like pudding mix that I see in so many Creami recipes. So, just keep that in mind that you will need to serve it quickly, or it can go back in the freezer to harden up.
- When putting the ingredients into the pint container, don't exceed the max fill line.
- The nutritional information will vary depending on what cake you have used. We have used the amount for a small slice of chocolate cake with chocolate frosting.

Frequently Asked Questions
The ice cream will harden again when it goes into the freezer, so we would recommend keeping it in the Ninja container, so it can be re-spun again when you are ready to eat the leftovers. You can also just leave the pint out of the freezer for 10 minutes until it softens and then scoop it.
When making a healthy ice cream with just fat free yogurt/cottage cheese rather than cream, sometimes you have to re-spin it more times. If after all the re-spins it's still crumbly, then add a tablespoon of milk and re-spin again and it should be a creamy texture.
