Ingredients and Substitutions

A full ingredients list, along with US Customary and Metric measurements, can be found in the recipe card at the end of this post.
- Yogurt - Use a authentic thick Greek yogurt for best results. We use 0% fat to keep it lighter, but you can use a higher fat percentage which will make it creamier.
- Milk - We used skim milk, but you can use whole or even swap some of the milk for cream for something creamier.
- Strawberries - Use fresh chopped fresh strawberries. Strawberry ice cream in the Ninja Creami needs ripe and juicy summer strawberries for best results.
- Maple Syrup - There is natural sweetness from the strawberries, but we added some extra with a little maple syrup. You could swap it for honey or agave.
Variations
Basil - I know this sounds like a bit of a random combination, but strawberries and basil go really well together. You only need a little bit of fresh basil - don't overdo it.
Frozen strawberries - Although fresh is best, you can make this with frozen strawberries and it means that you can make this all through the winter months too.
Dark Chocolate - When it comes to the mix-ins, some dark chocolate chips compliment the strawberries really well.
How To Make Ninja CREAMi Strawberry Ice Cream

- Step 1: Put the yogurt, milk, maple syrup and strawberries into the Ninja Creami pint container and mix well.

- Step 2: Put the lid onto the pint container and freeze for 24 hours.

- Step 3: Remove the lid and put the frozen pint tub into the outer bowl and put on the outer bowl lid. Put into the Ninja Creami machine and set to the Frozen Yogurt setting and spin. After the first spin it may result in a crumbly consistency.

- Step 4: Replace the tub in the machine and press Re-spin. This may take 1-2 more re-spins to achieve the perfect creamy consistency.
Serving Suggestions
You can just serve this as it is, but we love crushing up some meringue and sprinkling it on top and then drizzling a little strawberry jam on top. It's like Eton mess ice cream. You can sprinkle some crushed freeze-dried strawberries on top too.
A little bit of homemade chocolate sauce is really good too.

Dannii's Top Tips
- When putting the ingredients into the pint container, don't exceed the max fill line.
- Make sure you are using fresh and ripe summer strawberries for best results.
- If you want a more vibrant color and even more of a strawberry flavor, then you can gently heat the strawberries before mixing them with everything else. This will help to release some of the juices.
- You can add a splash of vanilla extract and a pinch of salt to help bring out the other flavors.

Frequently Asked Questions
The ice cream will harden again when it goes into the freezer, so we would recommend keeping it in the Ninja pint container, so it can be re-spun again. You can also just leave the pint out of the freezer for 10-15 minutes until it softens and then scoop it.
When making ice cream with just fat free yogurt rather than heavy cream, sometimes you have to use the re-spin function more times. If after all the re-spins it's still crumbly, then add a tablespoon of milk and re-spin again and it should be a creamy texture.
