Ingredients and Substitutions

A full ingredients list, along with US Customary and Metric measurements, can be found in the recipe card at the end of this post.
- Strawberries - We used frozen strawberries as it helps to thicken up the smoothie and makes it icy cold. You can use fresh if you prefer.
- Watermelon - You can use fresh or frozen watermelon cubes. It might be a little too thick if you are using frozen, so you may need to add a splash of water to thin it out.
- Lime - This just goes so well with the watermelon. You can use lemon juice instead.
Variations
Alcohol - You can make a grown-up variation of this with some alcohol in it. A splash of rum (white or dark) or tequila works very well.
Fruit - Whilst watermelon is the base, because it has such a high water content and we haven't added any other liquid, you can swap the strawberries for something else. Other frozen berries like cherries or raspberries work or even frozen mango or pineapple.
Fizzy - If you wanted to make this strawberry and watermelon smoothie stretch a little further and add a fizzy twist to it, then some sparkling water can be poured into it.
Mint - Like we have done with our Watermelon Slushie, you can add some fresh mint to this. Just add a little at a time, as you don't want it to be overpowering.
How To Make a Strawberry Watermelon Smoothie - Step by Step

- Step 1: Put all of the ingredients into a blender.

- Step 2: Blend until smooth.
Tips For Making The BEST Strawberry Watermelon Smoothie
- If you wanted to make a creamy version, then add a little Greek yogurt to the blender.
- If you are using frozen strawberries, then you need a really good high powdered blender to be able to handle the frozen berries. We love our Ninja 3-in-1 Blender.
- If you want to make this even sweeter, then you can add a little maple syrup or honey to the blender. Taste it first and see how you like it and then adjust the sweetness.

Frequently Asked Questions
When it comes to smoothies, we try to only make as much as we need. However, this actually freezes really well as it's just fruit. Any leftovers can be frozen in a ziploc freezer bag and then lay it flat in the freezer and it will be good for a couple of weeks. Then just blend it with a splash of liquid.
