Watermelon is eaten on repeat in our house all summer long and thankfully the kids love it because it is SO hydrating and refreshing!
Once they are bored of Watermelon Fruit Pizza, I make a big batch of this watermelon slushie recipe. It always goes down VERY well at parties too.
This cool drink is made with just frozen watermelon cubes, maple syrup, mint and some lime juice. So simple, and you don't really need a recipe as it works with any quantities so just change it up to suit your own tastes.

Watermelon Slushie Ingredients

A full ingredients list, along with US Customary and Metric measurements, can be found in the recipe card at the end of this post.
- Watermelon - You need frozen watermelon cubes for this, so you will need to prep that a few hours before making this. This means there is no need to add ice.
- Maple syrup - This is to make it extra sweet, and can be swapped for honey or agave.
- Lime - Adds zesty flavor, but can be swapped for lemon.
- Mint - The perfect combo with watermelon and makes it even more refreshing. Swap for basil for something different.
Variations
Boozy - If you want to make a grown-up version of this frozen watermelon drink, then why not add a splash of tequila or rum to it.
Fizzy - For a fun fizzy version of this, add some sparkling water to the mix before serving. You don't want too much though, otherwise it will dilute the watermelon flavor.
Fruit - You can use any frozen fruit in this recipe. Frozen strawberries or frozen mango also make great slushies.
How To Make a Watermelon Slushie - Step by Step

- Step 1: Put all of the ingredients into the blender.

- Step 2: Blend until smooth.
- Step 3: Pour into 4 glasses and then add the lime and mint for garnish. You can add some watermelon slices on the glasses too.
Extra Tips
- Make sure you are using a ripe watermelon for the best flavor.
- Let the watermelon cubes sit at room temperature for about 5 minutes before adding them to the blender, as it will make it easier to blend.
- Any leftovers can be poured into popscile moulds and frozen for a healthy sweet treat for kids.
- In the interest of being honest, we did a mint free version that my kids much preferred, so that might be worth a try first.
