Christmas fruit tray with a text overlay title.

This beautiful Christmas Fruit Tray is the perfect easy addition to a festive party as it is ready in under 10 minutes. It's as easy as chopping the fruit and arranging it in the shape of a Christmas tree. That's it! A Christmas fruit platter is so stunning and impressive, for very little effort. It's so adaptable too.

Various fruits and berries shaped into a Christmas tree surrounded by fairy lights.

This Christmas tree fruit tray might just be my favourite Christmas recipe ever. Not only because of how colorful it is, but it looks far more impressive than it actually is!

It only takes 10 minutes to put together and it's a great way to bulk out a Christmas party food table in an easy way. It also adds a healthy option to go with the more traditionally heavier foods.

The best thing about this recipe is just how adaptable it is. We are sharing all our Christmas fruit tray ideas, so you can adapt it to suit your own tastes/dietary restrictions. Our kids absolutely love making these themselves, and we end up with some very interesting Christmas tree shapes!

If you are looking for some more healthy Christmas recipes, then why not try our vibrant Christmas Salad recipe? Also, have you seen our Christmas Tree Cheese Board, Christmas Tree Veggie Tray or our impressive Christmas Fruit Wreath?

Ingredients and Substitutions

All the ingredients needed to make this recipe, each with a text overlay label.

A full ingredients list, along with US Customary and Metric measurements, can be found in the recipe card at the end of this post.

  • Fruit - We used green grapes, red grapes, blueberries, raspberries, apple, orange, watermelon and pomegranate. But we are sharing lots more ideas for fruit trays for Christmas below.
  • Herbs - This might be a strange addition to a fruit tray for Christmas, but it's just to give it that tree vibe! It's not to be eaten with the fruit - it's just a garnish. We used rosemary, but sprigs of mint or thyme work too.
  • Pretzels - These are added to the bottom to look like the tree trunk.

More ingredient substitutions and variations can be found in the recipe card.

Christmas Fruit Tray Idea

All of the fruit! Literally! Any fruit goes when it comes to this fruit platter, as long as you shape it into a Christmas tree. Here are some other fruits that work well:

  • Kiwi
  • Mango
  • Pineapple
  • Pears
  • Blackberries
  • Dried cranberries or cherries
  • Dates
  • Strawberries
  • Apricots

You could also add some nuts in layers between the fruit for some added texture. You could also add cubes of cheese too, to make it a cheese and fruit board.

Instead of shaping this like a Christmas tree, you could shape it into a wreath and put a sweet dip in the middle. This is a good option if you don't have a wooden board big enough to make a tree shape.

How To Make a Christmas Fruit Tray - Step by Step

  1. Step 1: Simply add rows of fruit and berries in a tree shape. Add the herbs to the side and the pretzel sticks for the trunk.

Serving Suggestions

This Christmas fruit tray is a must addition on any party food table in the festive season. It would be great alongside our Prawn Cocktail Canapes, Smoked Salmon Canapes and Christmas Sausage Rolls.

However, to add on to the actual Christmas fruit platter, it's got to be some kind of dip. Why not try our Peanut Butter Yogurt Dip, Healthy Chocolate Fruit Dip or Cream Cheese Fruit Dip. You could also dip it into our Healthy Nutella recipe.

Extra Tips

  • To make this Christmas fruit platter last a bit longer on a party table, squeeze some lemon juice over the cut apples to prevent them from browning.
  • We wouldn't recommend adding banana slices to this, as they will brown too quickly and go mushy.
  • Have some toothpicks or mini tongs nearby for guests to pick fruit up with, rather than using their hands.

Frequently Asked Questions

How to store leftovers

Anything that is leftover from a fruit Christmas tree can be stored in an air tight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. We just turn leftovers into a fruit salad and add it to yogurt, pancakes and waffles.

Can this be made in advance?

We wouldn't recommend making this very far in advance, as certain fruits like the apples would start to go brown. Only make it about 30 minutes before serving.

How much fruit is recommended per person.

How much fruit you need to use depends on how many people you are making this for. But a cup of fruit (80g) is recommended per person.
