Ingredients and Substitutions

A full ingredients list, along with US Customary and Metric measurements, can be found in the recipe card at the end of this post.
- Banana - Make sure your bananas are ripe, but not black and mushy as they will be hard to dip.
- Yogurt - If you want to make these even sweeter, then you could add some honey, maple syrup or agave to the yogurt. You could even use a vanilla yogurt if you wanted extra flavor.
- Chocolate - Use a good quality dark chocolate. We use 80% dark. You can add a little coconut oil to the chocolate to make it easier to melt and also give it a nice shine.
Variations
Bark - You could turn this into a banana yogurt bark like our Chocolate Yogurt Strawberry Bark. Put the sliced bananas onto a lined baking tray, smother with the yogurt and then pour the melted dark chocolate on top and freeze. Then you can snap the bark into pieces.
Nut butter - You could mix some runny nut butter into the yogurt before dipping the banana slices in. This would boost the protein, but it would increase the calories too.
Sprinkles - Why not sprinkle some flaky sea salt, crushed nuts, broken pretzels or desiccated coconut onto the chocolate before freezing?
Protein powder - You could make this higher in protein by mixing some protein powder into the yogurt. Don't add too much though, as you don't want it to be too thick.
Fruit - You can use this same process to dip strawberries into yogurt and chocolate.
Clusters - Whilst we have dipped individual banana slices into the Greek yogurt, you could chop banana up and mix it all in and then dollop little clusters of the mixture onto a baking tray to freeze before dipping it into the chocolate.
How To Make Chocolate Dipped Frozen Banana Slices - Step by Step

- Step 1: Coat each of the banana slices in the yogurt and put onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Using a fork is the easiest way.

- Step 2: Place the baking sheet into your freezer and freeze for 2 hours.

- Step 3: Melt the chocolate in a small saucepan or in the microwave. Allow to cool slightly.

- Step 4: Coat each of the frozen slices into the chocolate and return to the baking sheet. Once all the slices are covered, freeze until the chocolate has set, about 2 hours.
Dannii's Top Tips
- You need to make sure the banana and yogurt is really frozen before you take it out and dip it into the chocolate. Otherwise the yogurt will melt and start to harden the chocolate. This first step will take about 2-3 hours and then once dipped in chocolate you need to freeze for another 2 hours.
- You can do half dipped in chocolate and half just dipped in yogurt like we have.
- You don't have to dip them in chocolate, you can just drizzle it on top, which means you can use less and you also don't have to worry about the yogurt melting into the chocolate dip.
- Leave these out of the freezer for 2-3 minutes before biting into them so the yogurt and banana softens a little.
