We have always loved chocolate dipped strawberries, and after making our Chocolate Dipped Watermelon, we have been experimenting to see what other fruit works dipped in chocolate. It turns out, pretty much everything!
Mango, pineapple, kiwi, orange - it all works. Then we froze it all for a delicious healthy frozen treat that is going to keep us happy all through summer.
It's also a great way to get kids to try some new fruit, as everything is better covered in chocolate, right? My 6 year old is convinced he "hates" mango, but he loves these.

Ingredients and Substitutions

A full ingredients list, along with US Customary and Metric measurements, can be found in the recipe card at the end of this post.
- Fruit - You can pretty much dip any fruit in chocolate, but larger fruit work best. We like to go with a variety of colors, so it contrasts with the darkness of the chocolate. You could also do raspberries, grapes, cherries, watermelon, apples, bananas, apricots or peach slices. You don't have to just use fresh fruit, you can use canned fruit, candied fruit and even dried fruit.
- Chocolate - We used a vegan dark chocolate, but you could use milk chocolate or white chocolate for something different. You could dip it all in white chocolate first, leave it to set and then dip it in dark chocolate so it is layered. You could also drizzle it with melted white chocolate after the dark chocolate has set.
Variations
- Yogurt - Instead of chocolate, why not dip it in Greek yogurt for a high protein option? It would need to be frozen, rather than put in the fridge.
- Nuts - After you have dipped the fruit in chocolate, you can give it a second dip into something like crushed nuts, seeds or sprinkles. Why not try our Superfood Sprinkles?
How To Make Chocolate Dipped Fruit - Step by Step

- Step 1: Gently melt together the chocolate and coconut oil until silky and smooth. Allow to cool slightly.
Do this either in a saucepan on the stove top or in the microwave.

- Step 2: Put the fruit onto skewers and dip the fruit into the melted chocolate.
Gently shake as much chocolate off the fruit when you have dipped it in, so that you don't get a puddle around the fruit when it is set down on the lined tray.
- Step 3: Refrigerate until the chocolate has set.
Dannii's Top Tips
- When choosing what fruit to dip in chocolate, think about how soon you are serving it. If you are not serving this straight away, then avoid fruit that browns quickly like apple and banana. Also avoid anything with too high a water content like watermelon, as the water will cause the chocolate to "leak".

Frequently Asked Questions
This is best eaten as soon as possible. Try to eat within 2 days if storing in the fridge. We keep ours in the freezer and it lasts up to a week.
I personally don't as I don't find it is worth the extra effort. It does melt quicker when holding, but that's not a problem as it is eaten quickly. It also doesn't have the same crack to the chocolate when biting into it, but that doesn't bother me. You can temper it if you prefer.
This can happen if the fruit is too wet, so make sure to pat it dry with a paper towel before dipping.
