This Sparkling Cucumber Water is not only super refreshing and a great way to hydrate, but it will make you think you are at a luxury spa. Sparkling water, slices of juicy cucumber and lemon and sprigs of mint are all you need for this refreshing drink that is the perfect way to cool down in the summer.

We love infused water recipes. Why drink a glass of plain water when you have infuse it with fruit and fresh herbs - it makes it so much easier to drink. Anything that encourages us to stay hydrated gets a big thumbs up from us. It's light, crisp and fizzy. Everything we could want from a refreshing drink.

The best part is, this cucumber water recipe is ready in 2 minutes and it's a great alternative to fizzy drinks. There are also a few different ways to adapt it so you can have it a different way every time.

Looking for more ways for easy hydration? Why not try our Immune Booster Juice, Frozen Fruit Smoothie, Peach Iced Tea or Raspberry and Mint Water.

Ingredients and Substitutions

A full ingredients list, along with US Customary and Metric measurements, can be found in the recipe card at the end of this post.

  • Sparkling water - We used a bottle of sparkling water. But, if you make your own sparkling water, then use that.
  • Cucumber - Just a standard English cucumber. Definitely not the pickled kind.
  • Mint - This is the perfect herb to go with cucumber and adds a lovely freshness to the cucumber water. Basil works too.
  • Lemon - Always our go-to when trying to make water more exciting. You can use lime instead. Feel free to add more or less to adjust the flavor.

More ingredient substitutions and variations can be found in the recipe card.

How to Make Cucumber Water - Step by Step

One: Put all the ingredients into a large jug/pitcher, chill and serve.

Slices of cucumber and lemon and mint leaves in sparkling water.

I am not going to make any health claims about it being a "detox drink" or anything like that, because they don't actually exist. However, this water tastes great and makes it far easier to drink more water and stay hydrated, so that's always a good thing.

If you are trying to cut back on sugary fizzy drinks or juice, then this is a great way to do it, rather than just swapping for plain water. I find that drinking more water is great for my skin.

What Cucumbers to Use

English cucumbers work best for this recipe (the long and thin ones that you will find in most supermarkets). However, you could also use Persian or Kirby Cucumbers in this, which is what we have used in the past when we had an abundance from growing them.

A jug of water containing mint, lemon and cucumber.

Extra Tips

  • Add some slices of watermelon for extra flavour and juiciness.
  • You don't have to use sparkling water, and you could just use tap water instead.
  • Try to chill the drink in the fridge for at least an hour to allow the flavours to really come together.
  • You can keep this in the fridge for a couple of days, however replace the cucumber slices every 12 hours as they will lose their flavour after that.

Frequently Asked Questions

How to store cucumber water

Well, it never lasts very long in our house as we can get through a big jug in a day. However, you could keep a jug of this in the fridge for 3-4 days, but change the cucumber slices every 12 hours or so, as they will lose their flavour after that and the cucumber starts to break up.

What a neat app. It sounds super convenient, especially if you're traveling! And this fizz looks so good. We're having a heat wave here in Southern California too, so I could definitely go for some of this right about now!

I made this today, but added a bit of honey, and it was delicious. The kids even lapped it up too! It's nice to see drink recipes and not just food.

The hot weather we had last week was certainly a talking point. But we wouldn't be the same if we didn't talk about the weather. I spent as much time as I could in the shade with cool drinks. So your fizz sounds just perfect, so refreshing.

That app sounds great and this drink looks so refreshing for summer! I have a Japanese cucumber plant that is starting to flower in the garden and this will be perfect once it really starts to take off.

It's true! Us Brits do moan about the weather all the time don't we?

But well, look at today? What a change it's totally chucking it down here in Glasgow.

I love this cool refreshing cucumber mint lemon fizz Dannii, and although it's raining today, I'm pinning it for now in the hope that the weather changes back to sunshine and I can sit in the back garden with it!
