Ingredients and Substitutions
A full ingredients list, along with US Customary and Metric measurements, can be found in the recipe card at the end of this post.
- Grapes - This is the base of the fruit wreath. Look for grapes that don't have any brown spots on them for the best results.
- Berries - These add a nice pop of color to contract from the green. We used fresh raspberries and blueberries, but you could use blackberries and chopped strawberries too.
- Pomegranate - These add such a nice pop of color and flavor. You could skip these though.
- Mint - Although the sprigs of mint aren't for eating, it really adds something to the presentation and makes it look far more realistic as a wreath. You could add rosemary too.
Christmas Fruit Wreath Variations
The great thing about a fruit wreath is that it's so easy to adapt. Once you have the base of the green grapes, anything goes. Much like if you were making your own festive wreath out of foliage, you can add all kinds of leaves, twigs etc.
We also like cutting out little stars from watermelon and (carefully) balancing them on the grapes. You could use honey melon as well for contrast and to look more like stars.
If you didn't want to use this many grapes, you could add diced or sliced green kiwi to your wreath and still keep it green. You could also use red grapes as well as the green.
Why not add some cranberries to keep it festive?
You can make a veggie version of this by using broccoli instead of grapes and adding tomatoes, peppers and cucumbers.
How To Make a Christmas Fruit Wreath - Step by Step
- Step 1: Firstly, arrange the grapes into a large circular pattern.
- Step 2: Add the raspberries.
- Step 3: Next add the blueberries.
- Step 4: Scatter over the pomegranate seeds.
- Step 5: Finally, add the mint leaves to the the edge of the wreath.
