Peach Smoothie with a text title overlay.

This Easy Peach Smoothie is a creamy and delicious way to start your day, or a great end of summer snack that makes good use of fresh and juicy peaches. Make it thicker and serve it in a bowl loaded with toppings, or pour it in a glass for a quick fruit packed drink.

Two glasses of Peach Smoothie topped with mint leaves.

This Peach Smoothie can be thrown together in under 5 minutes, making it a quick and easy breakfast that can be drunk on the go, or a drink to cool down with whilst sitting outside on a hot summer day.

Fresh, juicy and ripe peaches are in abundance at the end of the summer, and this is the perfect way to make full use of them. A sweet and creamy smoothie that kids love too.

If you are looking for other ways to use peach, then why not try our Grilled Peaches, Peach Iced Tea or Grilled Peach Salad.

    Why you will love it

    • Low in calories - There is only 250 calories a glass and it feels far more indulgent than it is.
    • Quick and easy - This peach smoothie is ready in under 5 minutes
    • A great way to use ripe peaches - When peaches are cheap in the summer, make the most of them by making this.
    • Can be made in to a smoothie bowl - We love doing this as it feels more like a meal and it can be loaded with toppings.

    Ingredients needed

    • Peaches - This is the star of the smoothie. Make sure that you are using peaches that are in season for the best flavour.
    • Banana - This helps to add sweetness and also thicken it up. You can freeze the banana first if you want to make it thicker and cooler.
    • Milk - We used a mixture of semi skimmed milk and coconut milk. The coconut milk helps to thicken it up and also gives it a bit more of a tropical vibe. We used light coconut milk to keep the calories lower, but you could use full fat which would give it a creamier and more indulgent flavour.
    • Greek yogurt - This not only adds some extra protein, but it helps to thicken the smoothie up and make it creamier too.
    • Honey

A full ingredients list with measurements is in the recipe card below.

    Step by step

One: Put the chopped peach and sliced banana in a blender.

Two: Top up with the rest of the ingredients and blend until smooth.

    Health benefits of peaches

We are always looking for more ways to include fruit in our diet and smoothies are such an easy way, and kids love them too. They are a great way to get kids involved in the kitchen as well, as they can throw everything in to the blender.

Peaches are a good source of iron, folate and vitamins K and E. Not only that, but they are super sweet when they are ripe and in season, so you don't need to use any other sweetener (although you can if you like your smoothie super sweet).

    How to choose a peach

Before you even get to making the smoothie, you need to have chosen the perfect peach. You want it to be firm, but just ripe. Basically, not really hard or squishy - somewhere in between.

You want it to be firm enough to handle being grilled and not fall to pieces, but also ripe enough so it has flavour - but the grilling will help with that.

    Cutting and pitting a peach

Cutting a peach is a bit like cutting an avocado, or any stone fruit really. First you need to run a knife round the edge and then twist it open. Peaches have a natural seam, so it's best to follow that with your knife.

Once you have twisted it open, you will have two halves and the stone will have been revealed. To remove it, simply take a melon baller or a small ice cream scoop and scoop it out. You can't just stick a knife into it and wiggle it out like you can with an avocado, as the pit of a peach is more fragile and it will fall apart.

    Frequently asked questions

    Is this peach smoothie creamy?

This smoothie is super creamy and has a lovely tropical taste to it. Not only are the blended peaches and banana creamy, but we have used coconut milk and some yogurt along with the milk to make it extra creamy. The coconut milk gives it that tropical taste, however if you are not a fan you can always leave it out.
It you want to make this smoothie even more refreshing on a hot summer day, then freeze the peaches overnight and add them to the blender. Not only will it make it colder, but peaches are actually creamier when blended from frozen.

    Can you use canned peaches?

If you don't have fresh or frozen peaches, and you want to make this out of season then you can use canned peaches. Go for the ones in fruit juice and make sure they are fully drained first.

    Is this peach smoothie vegan?

If you use a plant based milk and yoghurt and swap the honey for maple syrup, then this can be vegan.

Is this peach smoothie gluten free?

As long as you make sure there is no cross contamination, this can be gluten free.

How to store a peach smoothie.

If you have any leftovers, then they can be stored in the fridge in an air tight container for up to a day. You can also freeze smoothies in a freezer safe jar or an ice cube tray. The ice cubes can be put straight in to a blender to blend with a little milk to create a smoothie again.

    Extra tips

    • For the best and sweetest peach smoothie, you want to use really ripe peaches.
    • Make this vegan by using a vegan milk and yogurt.
    • If you don't have any fresh peaches, you can use frozen.
    • To add a little extra flavour to this smoothie, add half a teaspoon of cinnamon.
    • You could always make a thicker version of this and serve it in a bowl. Add loads of toppings and eat with a spoon.
    • You can add some extra tropical flavour by adding in some mango too.

Dannii, what would you say is an ideal balanced breakfast? I follow you on instagram and see what you eat, but I usually just have a piece of fruit for breakfast. Is that not enough?
      Thanks.
