Ingredients and substitutions
- Potatoes - Any potatoes will work, but some definitely work better than others. Russet potatoes or Yukon Gold are the best potato varieties to get crispy potatoes in the air fryer.
- Oil - This helps the potatoes to get nice and crispy. We used a good quality olive oil.
- Seasoning - I used garlic granules and salt and pepper, however we have given other seasoning options below.

Variations
Really, the only thing you can change with potato peel crisps is the seasoning. Now, I am not going to suggest that you can make these the same flavour as your favourite packet of crisps. However, there are lots of options when it comes to seasoning air fryer potato peels
Why not try using your favourite seasoning blend like Cajun seasoning, Italian Seasoning of Fajita Seasoning?
You could just keep it simple with a pinch of smoked paprika and chilli powder for a smoky and spicy blend.
Or, for something a little more indulgent, a couple of minutes before the potato peels have finished cooking, sprinkle some grated Parmesan in.
Serving suggestions
Personally, I just snack on these. However, there is no reason why you couldn't serve these air fryer potato peelings as a side dish with something like chicken or salmon. Why not try our Air Fryer Chicken Tenders, Honey Mustard Salmon or Caprese Chicken?
I also love serving these on top of soup - kind of like a potato crouton!
When snacking on these, you have got to have some kind of dip. We served these with our Healthy Ranch Dressing. But you could try our healthier Homemade BBQ Sauce, spicy Jalapeno Dipping Sauce or Healthy Tomato Ketchup.

- Make sure the shake the potatoes half way through.
- Don't overfill your air fryer basket, as they won't get crispy. Cook in batches if you need to.

Michelle says
Oh no we made this and it set on fire!
Dannii Martin says
Set on fire? That would be a faulty air fryer or maybe it wasn't cleaned properly before use. It can happen if you cook things at too high a heat for too long, or if the air fryer is not cleaned after every use. Residual oil and small burnt bits of food will increase the chance of a fire inside the basket. Make sure the basket isn't over crowded too.
