Hummus Wreath Ingredients & Substitutions

A full ingredients list, along with US Customary and Metric measurements, can be found in the recipe card at the end of this post.
- Hummus - We used our homemade Butter Bean Hummus to make this, as it's amazing and really cheap to make. But, we also love a time saving hack so feel free to use a good quality store bought hummus.
- Herbs - This adds lots of green to make it look more like an actual Christmas wreath. We used coriander (cilantro), but any leafy green herb like parsley or basil will work well.
- Tomatoes - Some halved cherry tomatoes dotted around look like baubles. You could use chopped sun-dried tomatoes as well.
- Feta - A sprinkle of feta cheese is amazing on hummus anyway and it almost looks like snow.
- Pomegranate - These look like twinkly lights on the hummus wreath.
- Crackers - Something to scoop everything up.
Variations
Hummus - The biggest way to change this up is with the hummus you use. You could use a spicy hummus or a paprika hummus or a beetroot hummus for a totally different colour and flavour. Whatever your favourite hummus is.
Maybe try our Cottage Cheese Hummus for a high protein version.
Toppings - There are so many different options here. You can dice up bell peppers, spring onions (green onions) or cucumber and sprinkle it on the hummus. Sweetcorn can look like Christmas lights too. You just need to make sure that whatever you add, it's small and scoopable. Chopped chillies add a spicy twist.
High protein - For a high protein twist, why not blend some cottage cheese into your hummus?
Decoration - If you want to make it look more authentic, then make a little bow to add to the top or the bottom. You can use cucumber ribbons and carefully fold it up in a bow. You could also use a bow cookie cutter in a large piece of bell pepper.
How To Make a Hummus Wreath

Step 1
Place a small bowl upside down on a serving board and spoon the hummus around it. Use the spoon to smooth it out.

Step 2
Carefully remove the bowl and scatter the chopped coriander on top of the hummus.

Step 3
Decorate with the tomatoes, pomegranate and feta.

Step 4
Serve with crackers.
What to Serve with a Hummus Wreath
Basically, anything you would serve with hummus normally. We went with crackers in the middle of the wreath. If you want to make your own then try our Homemade Crackers recipe.
If you want to make it more nutritious, then serve it with some veggie sticks to scoop it all up with. Cucumber, carrot, celery and pepper sticks work well.
For something a little more filling, then a selection of bread is a good idea. Why not try these Homemade Flatbreads. Something crunchy like Baked Tortilla Chips work well too.

Dannii's Top Tips
- Make sure you put a bowl in the centre of your board and build the hummus around it so you get a nice even shape.
- To get the bowl out easily, run a knife around the edge of the bowl and then use the knife to gently lift up the bowl.
- To make this vegan, just leave out the feta.

Frequently Asked Questions
I would recommend making this just before you are ready to serve. The great thing is, it only takes 10 minutes. However, if you do need to make it in advance, you can make it in the morning and then carefully wrap it up and put it in the fridge. You could make the hummus in advance and prepare the toppings and just assemble it before serving.
Any leftovers can be scooped up into an airtight container and stored in the fridge for up to 3 days. We wouldn't recommend freezing this.
