How to pick the perfect avocado
The key is to pick a ripe but not over-ripe avocados. We like Hass avocados. Try to look for avocados that give a bit to a gentle squeeze. But you don't want one that it too soft, as it will be over ripe. If you knock off the stem at the end to reveal the flesh, you should be able to see that it is nice and green and not brown.
Don't worry if when you cut in to it there are some bruised or brown bits, as you can scoop those out and discard before smashing the rest up.
To store unused halves of avocado, wrap it tightly with plastic wrap and place in fridge - it will be good until the next day. Don't worry if it goes a little brown, as you can just scrape that bit off and you will be left with bright green avocado.

I have never really liked avocado - I find the texture too slimy to be palatable, but I must say that some of these recipes might entice me to try again with the slimy beast!
In the past I have used organic avocados in a breakfast green juice simply because I know they very, very good for me but they are a bit of a pain to add to a juice because you have to blend them rather than juice them and that means another lot of utensils to wash up!
Dannii says
I think the texture if one of the things I like most about it. Putting it in a smoothie is a great way to hide the taste and texture.
